Galerie Volker Diehl, Berlin presents an exhibition, curated by Shenja Kiseleva-Afflerbach, that arose on two occasions – the publication of the book „Unity Fragments. Ulitskaya. Krasulin.” and the 90th anniversary of the artist Andrey Krasulin. This exhibition opens up new facets of the creative union, the partners of which are widely known individually, such as the famous writer Lyudmila Ulitskaya and the distinctive artist Andrei Krasulin. The exhibition traces the long-term mutual influences and mutual inspirations of this creative couple. Lyudmila Ulitskaya appear as a text-artist and artistic co-author; in addition, her poems, which arose under the influence of the art and personality of Andrey Krasulin, are published for the first time at the exhibition (as manuscripts) and in the book.
Both authors moved to Berlin after the Russian military invasion of Ukraine began. In a new book and a new exhibition, they share their experiences of loss, love, illness, beauty, trust and many other experiences of being together. The exhibition includes works from 1980 to 2024, including works on paper, paintings, objects and sculpture.
The book of the same name „Unity Fragments. Ulitskaya. Krasulin.“ is published by the publishing house ciconia ciconia and is a comparison of literary texts and works of visual art.
